Bruchou, Fernández Madero & Lombardi finds in Nutanix the flexibility they needed to face expansion

The prestigious law firm reduced IT overhead and achieved cost savings in associated electrical equipment and space by implementing Nutanix

Overview

Bruchou, Fernández Madero & Lombardi is a leading law firm in Argentina that advises major companies and financial institutions on the legal aspects of their investments abroad, both directly and through their partnerships with prestigious firms in America, Europe, and Asia. Composed of more than 150 professionals, the firm was facing limitations posed by their outdated infrastructure that had also reached the end of its maintenance period. Their IT team determined that the firm needed a solution that would allow them to adapt to future expansions within their system quickly and efficiently all while maintaining data security. With Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure, the firm can simplify their operations, prioritize the work of their internal IT resources, and save time and money.

Key Results

Simplified operationsImproved availability Prioritized technology resources
Infrastructure operations and administration were simplified through Nutanix migration. Achieved a level of almost 99.9% system availability in the first year.Allowed internal IT resources to focus on tasks of greater added value and direct support to the firm.

Before the addition of Nutanix, we had four HPE DL-380 servers connected to an EMC storage system. Although we had no problems with the operation of our infrastructure, it was not flexible enough to withstand rapid and unplanned growth of our operation in the future.

Challenge

Founded in 1990, Bruchou, Fernández Madero & Lombardi had a traditional infrastructure of servers and discrete storage that reached the limit of its capabilities and maintenance period in 2019.

These limitations led Emilio Ignacio Feliu, IT Manager of Bruchou, Fernández Madero & Lombardi, and his team to analyze different options for replacing the equipment that would support their current workload and a future increase with always-on availability.

“We had four HPE DL-380 servers connected to an EMC storage system,” shares Feliu. “Although we had no problems with the operation of our infrastructure, it was not flexible enough to withstand rapid and unplanned growth of our operation in the future.”

The firm decided they wanted to incorporate a hyperconverged infrastructure that would allow them to adapt to future expansions within their system quickly and efficiently all while maintaining data security and 24/7/365 availability.

Solution

Once the vision for their desired solution was clear, the choice for which company to partner with was oriented towards selecting the best alternative for price and performance within the technology.

Feliu determined that Nutanix was the best option, thanks to the quality and development of its solutions, price, customers testimonials, and position as a leader in the market.

Currently, Nutanix is at the center of the firm's IT infrastructure with four nodes supporting all locally hosted applications of their different work areas, including legal, human resources, marketing, and more.

Customer Outcome

With Nutanix, Bruchou, Fernández Madero & Lombardi achieved their goal of simplifying the operation and administration of their infrastructure by migrating to a hyperconverged solution.

The Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure allowed the firm to focus the work of internal IT resources on tasks of greater added value and direct support to the business.

Additionally, the robustness and quality of the Nutanix solution allowed them to achieve a level of system availability of almost 99.9% in the first year of operation. By consolidating the entire architecture in a smaller physical space, they were also able to save on data center space and energy consumption.

“The firm approached us to eliminate the work overload that their IT team was experiencing, largely due to the complexity of the storage,” explains Pedro Sandalis, Regional Manager for South America at Nutanix. “By migrating to a very user-friendly architecture, not only did it generate savings in terms of money and process time, but also their employees now have more time to perform less operational and more strategic tasks for the business.”

The Nutanix IT infrastructure implementation was much simpler than the implementations that the law firm had done on previous occasions, allowing for quick production performance.

Bruchou, Fernández Madero & Lombardi benefitted from simplicity of their operation, consolidation of equipment, and greater storage capacity with Nutanix, thanks to its operational simplicity compared to that demanded by discrete infrastructure solutions.

The firm also experienced a substantial improvement in the response times of the batch processes of databases and access to user applications.

Next Steps

Over a year after its implementation, Feliu shares that his team is extremely satisfied with the incorporation of Nutanix into the firm, and they plan to expand the solution in storage and processing based on business needs.

“The idea is to expand the current Nutanix architecture by adding more nodes,” explains Feliu. “The level of support is excellent, and that is why we are considering adopting new functionalities like remote desktop for one of our internal service areas. The intention is to replace workstations that historically had physical desktops with virtual devices.”
