Nutanix Recognized as a Leader in the Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Server Virtualization Platforms

By Ketan Shah, VP of Product Management

We're excited to announce that Nutanix has been named a Leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Server Virtualization Platforms. In our view, this recognition reflects the continued momentum of the Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI) solution and validates our long-standing vision of delivering a simple, resilient, and comprehensive platform for modern enterprise infrastructure.

What makes this year's recognition particularly meaningful is our position on the Ability to Execute axis. Among all vendors evaluated, we were positioned highest for Ability to Execute, which we believe reflects our relentless focus on customer success, product innovation, and delivering a platform that meets organizations wherever they are in their infrastructure journey.

From Virtualization Alternative to Infrastructure Leader

For years, enterprises have relied on virtualization as the foundation for business-critical applications. While the market has evolved dramatically, the need for a reliable, secure, and easy-to-operate infrastructure platform remains unchanged.

Nutanix started with a vision to simplify datacenter operations through hyperconverged infrastructure. Today, that vision has evolved into a comprehensive software-defined infrastructure platform that brings together virtualization, storage, networking, cloud management, Kubernetes®, and operations in a unified experience.

As organizations evaluate their future virtualization platform strategy, they're looking beyond the hypervisor. They want a platform that not only supports traditional virtualized applications but also enables the next generation of cloud-native and AI workloads.

That's what we believe sets Nutanix apart.

Built on Simplicity, Proven Through Execution

Nutanix customers consistently report that operational simplicity matters and IT teams are being asked to do more with less while managing increasingly diverse application environments across datacenters, edge locations, and public clouds.

We believe our position in the Gartner Magic Quadrant reflects Nutanix's continued focus on delivering a mature platform and a simplified operational experience for customers. Today, organizations around the world use Nutanix to modernize infrastructure and support a wide range of enterprise workloads. In addition, Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2) enables customers to extend Nutanix environments across on-premises infrastructure and public cloud environments, including AWS, Microsoft Azure,Google Cloud and OVHcloud.

These capabilities reflect investments we've made for more than a decade:

  • A unified management experience
  • Integrated storage, virtualization, and networking
  • External storage partner integration
  • Seamless migration capabilities
  • Consistent hybrid cloud operations
  • Enterprise-grade resilience and security
  • VMs, Containers and AI managed together

Nutanix's focus has never been simply replacing legacy virtualization solutions, rather it’s been delivering an enhanced operational experience for customers.

The Foundation for Containers and AI

Looking ahead, Nutanix believes the future of infrastructure will be shaped by virtualized, containerized, and AI-driven workloads running together on a common platform. While virtualization remains critical, enterprises increasingly need to support traditional applications, Kubernetes, data services, and AI initiatives without creating new infrastructure silos.

We believe we're well positioned to help customers simplify that complexity. NCI provides the compute, storage, networking, and operational foundation needed to run both VMs and containers at scale. Combined with Nutanix Kubernetes Platform (NKP), cloud-native services, and AI-ready infrastructure, Nutanix helps customers modernize applications and adopt new technologies using a consistent operating model. Nutanix's approach to Kubernetes operations is further discussed in our coverage of the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Container Management, which evaluates container management platforms including NKP.

Whether organizations are modernizing existing applications, scaling Kubernetes deployments, or building AI-powered services, they need infrastructure that is simple, resilient, and flexible. In our view, leadership in server virtualization is no longer just about virtual machines. It's about providing the foundation for the next generation of enterprise applications, containers, and AI.

A Thank You to Our Customers and Partners

From our perspective this recognition reflects the trust our customers place in us every day. Their feedback continues to shape our roadmap and drive innovation.

We'd also like to thank our partners around the world who help customers modernize infrastructure, simplify operations, and build hybrid multicloud environments.

As enterprises navigate a rapidly changing infrastructure landscape, our focus remains on delivering a platform that helps customers run any application, anywhere, while preparing for what's next in containers, cloud-native applications, and AI.

In our view, being named a Leader and positioned highest on the Ability to Execute axis in this year's Magic Quadrant reinforces that commitment and the momentum we're building together.
