Virtualizing Kubernetes has significant operational and cost benefits. One of the drawbacks of traditional bare-metal deployments—especially in an era when hardware can be expensive and hard to come by—is the requirement for a complete, dedicated hardware footprint for every cluster.
Virtualizating Kubernetes by deploying it on Nutanix infrastructure and NKP allows companies to do more with less by consolidating control planes and worker nodes onto shared hosts. And the Nutanix AHV hypervisor allows enterprises to virtualize Kubernetes for maximum efficiency without the heavy licensing costs associated with legacy virtualization vendors.
Crucially, running containers in VMs does not mean sacrificing performance.
