We are humbled that you are considering Nutanix for your next career move. Here are a few pointers crowdsourced from our talent acquisition team to help set you up for success as you prepare for your interview.
Do your research
Set aside time prior to the interview to understand the requirements for the position, review the website, and learn about our industry, technology, customers, and culture. This will give you an idea of what to expect going into your interview so you can have deeper conversations with your interviewers.
The following resources are great starting points:
Research is key. We are a passionate bunch—passionate about our technology, our customers, and our culture. When candidates have done their research on what makes us a great company to work for, they are a step ahead of the competition. One of our principles is 'start with why'; show us why you want to work with us!Talent Advisor Pointer
Know your résumé and be ready to discuss it
We want to learn about what makes you special. What work or academic achievements and experiences are you most proud of? How are your accomplishments and knowledge relevant to the open position? Think about any accolades, leadership roles, and projects that you would like to highlight during the interview. Explain the details beyond what we can see on your résumé. Expect to go in depth on relevant projects and key results, problems you encountered, how you approached them, what worked well, and what didn’t.
Know what to expect
We do not expect you to know everything. Maybe you had very little exposure to the topic discussed, maybe you forgot, or did not have as much time to prepare as you wanted. This is perfectly normal. Our interviewers are here to guide you. We want you to do your best. Feel free to be vocal about your thought process and ask for clarification if needed. Besides your experience, we are also evaluating your potential and reasoning, which very often are more important than knowledge alone.
Find a quiet space for phone or virtual interviews
With the global pandemic, we have moved to virtual interviews to ensure the safety and well-being of you and your interviewers. For phone or virtual interviews, find a quiet location where you will not be interrupted and can speak and work comfortably. Get set up a few minutes early so you are calm and ready to begin on time. Avoid locations that will be noisy or that could distract you from performing well during your interview.
Plan your commute for in-person interviews
For in-person interviews, map your commute ahead of time and plan to depart a bit early to give yourself extra time in case you need it. If you are driving, look into parking near the interview location. If you are taking public transit, give yourself plenty of time in case there are unexpected delays.
Have the materials you need on hand
Review the instructions your talent advisor provided before your interview. For phone or virtual interviews, make sure to have reliable phone service and a stable internet connection if you will be using a collaboration tool. Have your résumé, the job description, and a list of questions handy so you can reference them if necessary. If you have a presentation to do, practice beforehand with friends or family and it will help you immensely.
Bring your own questions (BYOQ)
Interviewing is a two-way street. You are evaluating us as much as we are evaluating you. Come with questions prepared and feel free to ask questions in every interview. Research who you are speaking with and tailor questions for their role and perspective. Ask questions about what is most important to you: projects you will work on, company culture, team dynamics, potential challenges to expect, development opportunities, benefits, etc. We want you to have a good sense of the opportunity and to leave the interview process with the information that you need to make a well-informed decision should you move forward with an offer.
We strive to foster an inclusive working environment that enables all our Nutants to be themselves and to do great work in a safe and welcoming environment, free of unlawful discrimination, intimidation, or harassment. As part of this commitment, we will ensure that people with disabilities are provided reasonable accommodations. If you need a reasonable accommodation, please let your talent advisor know.
Lean on your talent advisor
We are here to support and guide you through the interview process. We want your unique experience and talents to shine through in your conversations. Reach out to your talent advisor to ask questions, discuss concerns, and ask for guidance. Remember, we are here to help, and we are rooting for you!
We hope this information helps you ace your upcoming interview. Thank you for your interest in a career at Nutanix.
