Nutanix Agentic AI: Scaling the Next Generation of Intelligence

By Thomas Cornely, EVP, Product Management

The rise of Openclaw has precipitated mass consumer interest in personalized digital assistants that manage complex tasks like finance, travel logistics, and health monitoring. Concurrently, these same agentic systems are poised to become pervasive within the enterprise, automating multi-step workflows, augmenting decision-making across departments, and transforming business processes. With the shift to Agentic AI, enterprise adoption of AI has hit a tipping point where the barrier to success is no longer the model or building individual agents, but the complexity of managing the infrastructure required to securely run thousands of agents at scale. While most AI infrastructure has so far been optimized for the "one big job" of model training, the production era of the "AI coworker" requires a platform built for high-frequency change, dynamic consumption, and massive concurrency.

The Two-Sided Challenge: Innovation vs. Governance

Enterprises face a two-sided challenge as they scale agentic AI. On one side, developers and AI engineers feel held back by fragmented tools, isolated data, and limited secure access to a range of large language models (LLMs), slowing innovation. On the other, infrastructure and platform teams are under pressure to deliver shared AI resources at scale while maintaining performance, security, and disciplined cost control.

Nutanix Agentic AI: A Cloud Operating Model for the AI Factory

Today at NVIDIA GTC, we announced Nutanix Agentic AI, a full-stack software solution for enterprises to unlock the full potential of AI factories. It delivers a cloud operating model that enables the delivery of AI infrastructure at the pace of developer’s innovation without giving up operational governance.

By treating AI infrastructure as a centralized, shared, highly flexible resource, rather than each project as a silo, we are bringing the cloud operating model to the AI factory. This architecture doesn't just simplify operations; it fundamentally optimizes AI economics by minimizing the cost per token across dynamic, multi-user environments. Read to learn more

Nutanix Agentic AI: Solution Overview

Enterprise infrastructure and platform teams do not want AI infrastructure to turn into ‘one more island’ of siloed infrastructure. Ideally, they should be able to build, operate and govern AI factories with the same tools and operating model used for the rest of their hybrid cloud. Nutanix is uniquely positioned to deliver this unified experience, anchored on the strength of our hypervisor and open ecosystem approach. The Nutanix Agentic AI solution helps customers move from “racked and stacked” hardware to a governed multi-service accelerated environment purpose-built for inference at scale without compromising on performance. Nutanix Agentic AI integrates several breakthrough capabilities across the Nutanix stack, starting with our AHV hypervisor and Flow virtual networking to automatically optimize AI compute.

Orchestrate and Secure: The Infrastructure Foundation

Our differentiation is rooted in how we orchestrate accelerated computing by running Kubernetes on VM-based nodes, delivering high performance, strong security, and efficient utilization to lower cost per token. Shared infrastructure requires optimized resource orchestration and security. This is why our solution is anchored on our AHV hypervisor for strong workload isolation and simplified day 2 operations. The key is to deliver this without sacrificing performance.

With early access NVIDIA topology-aware AHV, we automatically optimize workload placement across GPU-dense servers for maximum performance without the need for manual tuning. And, by offloading Nutanix Flow virtual networking on NVIDIA BlueField DPUs (data processing units), we shift networking and security overhead off the CPU (central processing unit) to preserve inference cycles while maintaining maximum throughput and robust isolation. Accelerate: The Intelligent AI PaaS Layer

AI engineers and Agentic AI developers rely on a rapidly expanding set of tools and frameworks to do MLOps, fine tune models, build and run agents and connect them to enterprise data. To help them get started, the Nutanix Kubernetes Platform (NKP) now comes with a built-in catalog of the leading open source AI tools and agentic frameworks. We also complement this open catalog with the more advanced services from our Nutanix Enterprise AI (NAI) product. Version 2.6 of NAI extends our mature Model as a Service platform (MaaS), with built-in enterprise controls for local inferencing with models from NVIDIA and Hugging Face, with a new AI Gateway to provide a unified entry point with standardized access, security, and usage governance to both cloud-hosted and private LLMs.

We’ve also added  MCP server support, enabling agents to securely connect to enterprise tools and data sources. And with new support for the NVIDIA Nemotron family of open models, datasets, and training tools, developers can build agentic systems designed to reason, use tools safely, and execute complex, multi-step workflows with greater autonomy. Integrate: Foundational Data Services for AI

Agentic AI depends on enterprise-grade data services, and is only as good as the data it can access. As an NVIDIA-validated storage solution and a design partner in NVIDIA’s STX program, Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) addresses data locality by enabling GPU-accelerated transformation and vectorization within the storage cluster, delivering a high-performance data fabric without bottlenecks. With linear scale to thousands of GPU clients, low-latency NFS over RDMA ( S3 over RDMA coming soon), and KV cache offload to free GPU memory, customers can support larger context windows and more concurrent users while lowering overall cost per token. The Bottom Line: AI Complexity as a Business Advantage

The future belongs to the Agentic Enterprise. By orchestrating the interaction between GPU compute, software-defined networking, and enterprise data services, Nutanix is doing more than just racking and stacking hardware. We are providing a running and regulated environment that turns AI complexity into a scalable competitive edge. Through our deep engineering partnerships with NVIDIA and leaders like Cisco, Dell, and Supermicro, Nutanix is ensuring that the next generation of intelligence is not just powerful, but sustainable.

The future is Agentic. The platform is Nutanix
