Prism Backup to S3 Compatible Object Store for Enhanced Resilience

Nutanix, a leader in hybrid multicloud computing, is excited to announce a significant enhancement to the Nutanix Prism management console. We’re introducing point-in-time backup to S3-compatible object stores, providing unprecedented flexibility and choice for off-site data protection of essential Prism configurations and policies. This feature provides a robust recovery path for your Prism instance in the event of a catastrophic site failure, data loss, or a ransomware attack.
In line with our commitment to providing open and resilient solutions, you can now leverage whichever S3-compatible object storage you prefer. This enhancement can strengthen your data protection strategy for Prism, offering greater freedom to choose the right storage solution for your hybrid multicloud environment.
To support this new capability, we are also launching the Nutanix Ready Validation program for Prism Central Backups. This program enables S3-compatible object storage vendors to validate their solutions, ensuring seamless compatibility, and giving greater confidence in your data protection strategy.
Prism Backup to S3 Compatible Object Stores
Nutanix Prism now extends its point-in-time backup capabilities to S3-compliant backup object stores, adding to its existing support for AWS S3 and Nutanix Objects Storage. Whether your S3 object is on-premises in a private cloud or in the public cloud, you can easily configure it as a backup target. For customers, this enables broad flexibility and freedom of choice by supporting a wide range of S3-compatible endpoints.
The steps to configure are simple; provide the bucket URL and credentials in Prism using the familiar S3 protocol. The RPO remains configurable to meet your specific business requirements.
Introducing the Self-Certification Program for S3 Vendors
Nutanix is also launching the Nutanix Ready Validation program for Prism Central Backups available to S3 Object vendors. This program allows S3 object storage vendors to self-test and validate their solutions for Prism backup and restore functionality, and establish seamless compatibility with Nutanix technology. Once validated, they become a part of the Nutanix Technology Alliance Partners ecosystem.
