At Nutanix, our employees are at the heart of all we do. Today we’re spotlighting our dynamic team in Mexico City. Read on to discover what makes Life at Nutanix in Mexico City special.

From Humble Beginnings

Our first employee based in Mexico started in 2014. In 2019, we opened our first Mexico City office, with a group of three employees from our Support team, dedicated to caring for our customers and growing our presence in the region. Our local team has since grown to 130+ employees from different areas of the business, including Support, Services, Sales, Marketing, Workplace, and People (Human Resources). This expansion is a testament to the heart and hard work of our employees and to the vibrant company culture.

The Mexico City office atmosphere is warm and welcoming. I felt included from my first day. People are friendly and talk across departments.

A Stunning Office

From humble beginnings in 2014, the team grew rapidly, quickly outgrowing our office space. It was apparent we needed a larger space to call home. In early 2024, we opened the doors of our new, more spacious office, located in the southern part of the city on Avenida de los Insurgentes Sur. The space is situated on the twelfth floor of a building that was formerly a cinema, and the office was designed by our Real Estate and Workplace team with valuable input from local employees.

The modern workspace incorporates elements of Mexican culture while also embodying our global brand identity, and boasts stunning views, ample space and common areas for socializing and relaxing–including a game room, massage chair, and a well-stocked pantry with snacks and beverages to fuel creativity. Best of all, the office decor and design incorporates elements inspired by Mexican artists like Fanny Rabel, Frida Kahlo, José Guadalupe Posada, Juan O’ Gorman, Sebastián (born Enrique Carbajal González) and Vicente Rojo Almazán.

A Key Support Center

Our Mexico City presence is a strategic asset to Nutanix. In fact, more than half of our Mexico City employees work within Support. The local Support team has doubled in size in recent years and helps ensure Nutanix customers have around the clock technical support, 365 days a year.

Our Support Engineers (or Systems Reliability Engineers) artfully blend technical expertise, problem solving, customer service and communication skills to guide our customers to success, offering support in English, Spanish and Portuguese.

New hires in Support complete a robust 3-4 month onboarding program to ensure they have the skills and expertise they need to feel comfortable working with customers directly. Beyond honing their skills as individual contributors, Support team members have multiple growth paths available to them. Some choose to continue to develop in an individual role, while others pursue management. Team members who aspire to explore technical areas beyond Support, have successfully transitioned to other Nutanix teams, working as Technical Account Managers, Residents, Consultants and within Engineering.

We have a helping culture. People genuinely want to help one another succeed. We work hard and have each other’s backs.

Employees give back to the local community and support causes close to their hearts through Nutanix Spark. They use our paid Volunteer Time Off and donation matching benefits to advance a range of meaningful causes, from hosting a holiday donation drive for kids, to partnering with Inspiring Girls Mexico for our Diversity Dialogues employee conference and participating in a race to benefit Pedacito del Cielo A.C.

Flexibility and Wellbeing

At Nutanix Mexico City, employees work hard to support our customers and grow our business, while also recognizing that flexibility and wellbeing are essential for sustainable success.

Teams are trusted to determine the working style that works best for them based on their organization structure and requirements–whether it means working remote, in-office or a hybrid blend of the two. This offers employees ownership and flexibility in how they balance their professional and personal lives.

Throughout the year, employees use Wellbeing Days off to rest and recharge by spending time with loved ones, pursuing learning opportunities and hobbies.

Employees who expand their family use our generous parental leave for family bonding and settling into parenthood before transitioning back to work.

I like the flexibility of working hybrid. I go into the office a day or two each week and work remotely the rest of the time. At the office, I catch up with people from different teams and leave feeling energized.

Interns Bring Fresh Perspective

In February 2024, we welcomed our first group of Nutanix interns based in Mexico City, with 5 students joining our support team for a part time 6 month internship. They brought with them fresh energy and perspective, and gained valuable professional experience to build on their studies.

Interns learned about our technology, cultivated communication and problem solving skills, shadowed experienced team members and received mentoring from seasoned technical support engineers. Interns applied their learnings through mock support sessions to prepare them for common scenarios that Systems Reliability Engineers face. After developing their skills and confidence, interns took on real support cases–working directly with customers to investigate problems and work through them to a successful resolution.

Interns felt the real experience of being a support engineer, and departed their internships armed with a solid foundation for any technical career they choose to pursue.

After our interns graduated, we welcomed many back as full time employees.

My internship opened my eyes to the vast career opportunities in the technology field. The most valuable skill I developed during my internship was communicating directly with customers to handle their technical challenges. I rely on this skill in my current role and am proud of the 10/10 customer satisfaction rating that I’ve achieved.
