Five Things to Know Before HIMSS20

March 3, 2020 | min

With nearly 45,000 healthcare IT attendees, 350+ education sessions, and more than 1,400 diverse exhibitors on an expansive exhibit floor, HIMSS remains the can’t-miss information technology event of the year. This year, as healthcare organizations continue to witness unprecedented change and face increasing pressures to drive digital transformation, the HIMSS20 call for action “Be the Change” certainly rings true.

Here are the five things to know before HIMSS20.

Get up to speed on the impact of the cloud

Nutanix recently commissioned a survey with Vanson Bourne to create the second annual Enterprise Cloud Index. The company also looked specifically at findings among healthcare organizations, seeking to learn more about the impact of the cloud. Survey results uncovered unwavering interest in the use of cloud technologies to drive digital transformation for healthcare organizations. In fact, an overwhelming majority (87%) of healthcare organizations identified hybrid cloud as the ideal IT operating model.

Bottom line: the agility of cloud solutions enables healthcare organizations to quickly adapt to change and create the best patient experience possible.

Plan your day

There is no flurry quite like the flurry of HIMSS. With education sessions led by renowned industry experts and keynote speakers, thousands of attendees, and exhibition space larger than 200 NBA sized basketball courts, it is easy to become overwhelmed. Our suggestion is simple: build your HIMSS plan early, then refer to it often.

And, as you build your plan, make the Nutanix booth (#1171) one of your “must do” activities. With six demonstration pods allowing hands-on opportunities to interact with Nutanix solutions, you can see for yourself why healthcare runs best on Nutanix. Our in-booth theater will host daily presentations from some of our customer evangelists, Nutanix subject matter experts, and industry partners including HPE, Veeam, Citrix, Splunk, Cloudwave, and more. We are ready to talk to you about your technology journey, and align for success.

Learn from your peers

Education sessions at HIMSS20 fall into 17 topic categories including “Healthcare Applications and Technologies” which focuses on the processes, the people and the technologies that lead to improved clinical and operational outcomes. Carve out time to attend education sessions to learn how other healthcare organizations have improved their technology infrastructure.

Nutanix customer Nick Fuchs, Sr. Director Infrastructure, Security & Support at Springfield Clinic will present on this very topic during a Lightning Session on Wednesday, March 11 at 10:45 a.m. (Hall D | booth #7143 | Lightning Session Stage). Mark your calendar, and plan to attend to learn how Springfield Clinic recently undertook a six-month project to enable a secure and frictionless infrastructure, and found success in just six weeks.

Take a break and play with adoptable puppies

Don’t forget to take a mental recharge. Swing by the Nutanix Paws and Relax booth (#3821) to cuddle and play with adorable, and adoptable puppies. Don’t worry, if you fall in puppy love, representatives from the Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando will be onsite to help coordinate adoptions (yes, they’ll even help with travel and transport!).

Network

With 45,000 attendees from more than 90 countries, HIMSS20 is predicting record-breaking attendance. Interestingly, the Top 20 Professional Titles of attendees include: CIO, VP of IT/IS, CTO, Systems Analyst, Programmers/Developers and Healthcare Strategists. Opportunities to network with peers and industry experts abound. Take advantage of formal education sessions, exhibit hall conversations, and even shuttle chats to make the most out of your time at HIMSS20.

See you in Orlando!
