Enterprises are moving quickly to adopt GenAI and build AI factories. In a recent survey, 85% of organizations surveyed reported that they have a GenAI strategy in place.

However, for many companies significant challenges exist on the path to meaningful AI adoption. High on the list are:

  • Integration with existing IT infrastructure: Scaling AI workloads from development to production makes integration with existing systems and data resources more difficult.
  • Skills gap: The expertise necessary to select, integrate, deploy and operate the hardware and software necessary for AI are in high demand and short supply.
  • Cost: The result can be an expensive endeavor in terms of both CAPEX and OPEX.
GenAI challenges when scaling from development to production

The Nutanix Difference

Nutanix provides a full-stack AI platform that delivers the performance, scale, and flexibility your business needs to maximize your AI success.

  • Full integration: Deploy and run AI workloads alongside existing enterprise workloads on infrastructure you know how to deploy and manage.
  • Easy operations: Our solution offers an intuitive interface for simple management and monitoring of your AI infrastructure, LLMs, and endpoints.
  • Controlled costs: Take advantage of predictable cost of ownership, whether you deploy on-premises or in the cloud.

Nutanix eliminates the barriers to enterprise GenAI adoption with a single, full-stack platform that integrates with your existing environment and addresses skills gaps while helping to control AI costs on-premises and in the cloud.

One Platform for AI

Nutanix delivers a single, integrated platform that addresses modern datacenter and IT requirements, including enterprise-grade capabilities that make your operations:

  • Secure + Private: Keep your data private with AI that spans on-premises and clouds—with built-in data security that helps keep your data under your control.
  • Resilient: Deploy critical AI workloads on a hardened platform built to withstand failures and protect data with advanced data protection, DR, and cyber protection.
  • Day-2 Ready: Identify bottlenecks in infrastructure and LLM operations with clear and simple visual tools.

For on-premises deployments, the Nutanix GPT-in-a-Box solution delivers a turnkey solution built on the Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI) platform for scalability and performance. The subsections that follow highlight the key components of the Nutanix AI architecture. The Nutanix Database Service offering (not shown) can also be incorporated as part of the solution to simplify deployment of retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines.

Nutanix Unified Storage

Because data is so critical to successful AI operations, GPT-in-a-Box includes the Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) offering, which offers high-performance block, file, and object storage. Because it’s integrated into the platform, NUS brings data and compute closer together—and there’s nothing separate to buy or manage.

Nutanix uses the MLPerf benchmark to evaluate the performance of NUS for AI workloads. MLPerf is designed to measure how well a storage system can support end-to-end AI and machine learning pipelines, from data ingestion and preprocessing to model training. Our 2025 results show:

  • A single Nutanix cluster can serve up to 2,312 accelerators running the resnet50 benchmark, a test that evaluates the ability to recognize image content.
  • Substantial year-over-year per-node performance improvements (see figure below).

Nutanix Kubernetes Platform

Organizations need  a scalable, containerized platform to meet the demands of modern AI workloads, including inference using LLMs and other models, as well as the ability to support the applications consuming those models. Unfortunately, for many enterprises deploying Kubernetes® also comes with significant challenges. Nutanix delivers enterprise Kubernetes done right. The Nutanix Kubernetes Platform (NKP) solution  is simple to deploy, easy to manage, and ready to scale. Built to bring resiliency, security, and comprehensive Day 2 operations to cloud native applications, NKP offers everything you need to operate at scale with the flexibility to customize freely. Standardize management for fleets of clusters across public clouds, datacenters, and the edge with ease. It's the Kubernetes experience developers and platform teams want—and the reliability enterprises need.

Nutanix Enterprise AI

At the heart of GPT-in-a-Box is the Nutanix Enterprise AI product, which delivers key AI capabilities. Nutanix Enterprise AI simplifies the deployment, management, and scaling of large language models (LLMs) and generative AI applications. It helps you bring AI workloads closer to your data, with a focus on privacy, security, and predictable costs. A unified control plane lets you manage AI deployments across datacenter, edge, and cloud environments. Key capabilities include:

  • Choose pre-validated AI models from Hugging Face or NVIDIA NIM or upload your own models.
  • Quickly create API endpoints to support AI-based applications.
  • Easily manage your AI environment with:
    • AI model preflight testing
    • AI model and API monitoring
    • Kubernetes resource monitoring
    • GPU usage monitoring
    • Event auditing

The Nutanix Enterprise AI feature set provides significant benefits for AI administrators, developers, and other internal AI users, streamlining routine processes and enabling self-service.

Best of all—because you can run Nutanix Enterprise AI anywhere—it provides flexibility.

How Nutanix Stacks Up

Nutanix provides a complete, turnkey solution for AI. Platform and infrastructure vendors like VMware require you to license NVIDIA AI Enterprise (NVAIE) and select and integrate the tools you need from the options it provides. Nutanix supports NVAIE, but doesn’t require it. Everything you need is pre-validated as part of Nutanix Enterprise AI, simplifying the process of getting started.

Learning More

Nutanix has taken significant steps to streamline and accelerate the process of GenAI deployment for enterprise customers. With Nutanix Enterprise AI, you can deploy AI on-premises with the ultimate convenience of Nutanix GPT-in-a-Box, deploy on-premises on other infrastructure you already own, or deploy in the public cloud.
