Challenge

Clinique de La Source is a unique multidisciplinary acute care facility.

Founded in 1891 and highly committed to its independence, CLS belongs to the Fondation La Source, a private non-profit institution which also oversees the ‘Institut et Haute Ecole de la Santé La Source’ (HES-SO).This financial independence allows the Clinique de La Source to continually invest in people and technology in order to maintain the level of excellence throughout the care process that has made its reputation for over a century.

Clinique de La Source is a reference centre in the French part of Switzerland, in the multidisciplinary care of patients.

This ambition is translated in a very concrete way by investing relentlessly to remain at the highest level. Investing on the one hand in high-standard technological equipment, but above all in human resources, the most precious asset of CLS. Quality care can only be guaranteed by enough well-trained staffs.

Clinique de La Source has been working with Nutanix for several years and this is the second tech refresh.

Solution

In 2016 the IT-specialists at the clinic started evaluating a hyperconverged solution: “Automation and simplification are the main reasons that pushed us towards hyperconvergence”, said Etienne Marchand, head of IT department, Clinique de La Source. “What also pushed us to work with Nutanix was to migrate to the Nutanix AHV hypervisor, which is what La Source did in 2021 during the second tech refresh.”

Customer Outcome

Clinique de La Source chose to work with Nutanix, not only for the HCI solution but also for its AHV hypervisor. Today, almost all servers (administration, production, etc.) run on AHV. CLS has two datacenters to manage and has opted for a 100% on-premises IT infrastructure. “We must be constantly on deck to manage and provide quality and reliable services for Clinique de La Source's operations”, said Etienne Marchand. “Since our migration, we find that we can refocus on our core business and spend less time managing IT.”

In addition, the choice to use NX hardware, simplifies the access of the IT-team to support.

We rely mainly on our partners and Nutanix, but we need to certify and educate our IT teams to become more autonomous in managing Nutanix.

The tech refresh has underlined the work and services provided by IT team for the Clinic's employees. What is most important is to provide a quality service for staff, doctors and partners of CLS who take care of the patients every day – 24/7.

The expected services must be efficient, always available, fast and secure - it is a daily challenge for the IT team.

Moreover, a quality service is immediately visible on the patients' feedbacks.
