Nutanix Begins Act-II in India

Hyperconvergence Leader Announces Hiring of a World Class Sales Leader, Partnership with Lenovo, and a R&D Center of Excellence with IIT Kanpur.

BANGALORE, India – December 10th, 2015 – Nutanix, the next-generation enterprise computing company, which already had a development and a support hub in India, today announced its 2nd act in the country with the addition of Sunil Mahale as VP Sales, India. Sunil will complement Namit Jain, head of India R&D, who also announced a Center of Excellence at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur.

Sunil has an extensive background in scaling high-growth enterprise IT companies, with memorable tenures in world-class brands such as EMC, NetApp, and Hitachi Data Systems.

First Dell, now Lenovo

Nutanix also announced its Lenovo partnership in the country as part of its second chapter in its India journey. Lenovo, with its leadership position in x86 server reliability, hopes to bring elegant enterprise cloud solutions with the launch of its HX series in India. Between this and the Dell partnerships, Nutanix is now the only hyperconverged company whose software is OEM’d by two out of the three largest server companies in the world.

Co-creating with the Computer Science Department, IIT Kanpur

Nutanix also announced its first Center of Excellence in partnership with IIT Kanpur. It will be a unique industry-academia partnership, fostering collaboration between the student community and the Nutanix R&D team. The proposed center will focus on innovation in the areas of datacenter operating systems (beyond hypervisors), containers, hybrid cloud computing, and storage class memory.

“Nutanix has created a powerful software-defined infrastructure technology, and in bringing the goodness of web-scale engineering to mainstream. This CoE will provide undergraduate, Masters, and Ph.D. students at IIT a powerful platform for doing cutting-edge research in the areas of public and private cloud computing,” said Dr. T.V. Prabhakar, professor in Dept of Computer Science & Engineering, IIT Kanpur.
