Hot Off Series D Funding, InfoWorld Editors Call Nutanix the “Killer Virtualization Appliance”
SAN JOSE, Calif. – Feb. 3, 2014 – Nutanix, the leading provider of next-generation datacenter infrastructure solutions, today announced that its Virtual Computing Platform has received IDG’s prestigious InfoWorld 2014 Technology of the Year award. InfoWorld selected Nutanix for its unique ability to bring cloud-like server and storage infrastructure to traditional virtualization deployments, citing its NX-3000 as a “killer virtualization appliance.”
“Nutanix was founded by experienced data center architects and engineers from the likes of Google, Facebook, and Yahoo. That background brings with it a keen sense of what makes a good distributed system and what software pieces are necessary to build a scalable, high-performance product,” said Paul Ferrill, InfoWorld. “At the end of the day it’s an ideal solution for high-end data centers looking to pack as much virtualization capacity into the least amount of space possible.”
Selected by InfoWorld Test Center editors and reviewers, the annual awards identify the best and most innovative products on the IT landscape. Winners are drawn from all of the products tested during the past year, with the final selections made by InfoWorld’s Test Center staff. In the first ever review of the Nutanix Virtual Computing Platform, Nutanix received top marks across all five categories – management, performance, availability, scalability, set up – to score an unprecedented 9.3 out of 10 points. The reviewers were impressed with Nutanix’s “sophisticated set of distributed cluster management services” and understanding of the requirements to build a scalable, high-performance product. In addition to naming the NX-3000 a Technology of the Year award winner, InfoWorld stamped the appliance with its “Editor’s Choice” seal of approval.
“Coming on the heels of a $101 million funding round announced just two weeks ago, the InfoWorld Technology of the Year award is further validation that Nutanix is revolutionizing how enterprise datacenters are designed and managed,” said Manoj Agrawal, Senior Director, Hardware and Platform Engineering, Nutanix. “Nutanix’s converged infrastructure solutions, based on proven web-scale technologies, are bringing unprecedented simplicity and cost-saving economics to all size enterprises.”
As the fastest growing enterprise infrastructure company of the past decade, Nutanix delivers unmatched performance, scalability and innovation, providing IT managers with a robust platform for building and operating virtual datacenters. The Nutanix Virtual Computing Platform makes it simple and affordable to run the broadest range of enterprise workloads, including virtual desktops, core enterprise applications such as Microsoft Exchange, databases, big data projects and more.
“The InfoWorld review provides a completely unbiased examination of Nutanix’s technology, and describes the same benefits that the Nutanix Virtual Computing Platform is bringing to our enterprise customers today,” said Keith Norbie, Director of Virtualization, Server and Storage Practice (East) for Technology Integration Group – a San Diego-headquartered leading solutions integrator with offices across the U.S. and in China. “Our clients are embracing the opportunity to modernize their datacenters, bringing cloud-capabilities into their own infrastructure. Nutanix is making that happen, and helping fuel our business.”
