By standardizing on Nutanix, Cirrus has strengthened its sovereign cloud offering, accelerated customer onboarding, and enabled banking and fintech services at national scale
Lebanon's financial sector is among the most dynamic in the region and Cirrus, part of the ITG Group, has built its reputation on meeting that demand head-on. As a managed cloud services provider operating the country’s main sovereign cloud, Cirrus delivers enterprise-grade cloud services across infrastructure, software, and platform layers to some of the country's most critical institutions, including major banks, fintechs, and insurance companies.
With data sovereignty emerging as a non-negotiable requirement for the region's financial sector, Cirrus saw a clear opportunity to become the country’s definitive sovereign cloud provider. Realizing that vision, however, required a fundamental transformation of its underlying infrastructure. Partnering with Nutanix, Cirrus didn't just modernize. It redefined what cloud services in Lebanon could look like.

Today, more than 70% of the country's major fintechs trust Cirrus as their cloud provider. That is a remarkable position to be in, and Nutanix is central to how we got here.
As Lebanon's digital and financial services ecosystem has matured, Cirrus has played a central role in supporting its evolution. But as a market leader, the organisation also recognised that the legacy VM-based cloud model was no longer aligned with the speed of customer demand.
"In our market, even days matter. Banking customers and fintechs need to be up and running quickly so they can start delivering value. With our previous infrastructure, spinning up new environments could take days, or even weeks. That was simply the norm across the market," said Nassib Chamoun, General Manager at Cirrus. "But as the market leader, we weren't willing to accept that as the ceiling. We saw the opportunity to set a new benchmark, and we took it."
The impetus to act was further sharpened by a growing strategic focus on sovereign cloud. With data localisation becoming increasingly critical for government entities and financial institutions alike, Cirrus knew the ability to guarantee locally hosted, fully sovereign cloud services would be a decisive differentiator. Delivering on that promise, however, demanded infrastructure that was not only powerful and reliable, but agile enough to respond to customer needs at the speed the market required.
Turning to Nutanix, Cirrus deployed Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure which marked an immediate step-change in operational capability. Where previously the team had grappled with the complexity and fragmentation of a VM-based model, the unified Nutanix platform simplified management significantly, reduced operational overhead, and gave Cirrus the agility to respond to customers far more quickly.
But not content to stop there, in the years that followed, Cirrus adopted the Nutanix Kubernetes Platform (NKP). “The transition to containerised applications is accelerating across the banking and fintech sectors. We recognized early that NKP would be central to how we serve our customers going forward,” said Charbel Chahine, Customer Relations Manager at Cirrus. “We're already projecting two to three times growth in containerised workloads across our environment over the coming years. And with NKP, we have the infrastructure to support that confidently.”
Today, Cirrus operates more than 20 Nutanix clusters across its environment, underpinning the cloud services delivered to the majority of Lebanon's financial sector. This infrastructure foundation, combining the resilience of Lebanon's only Tier 4 data centre with the agility and efficiency of NKP, has firmly established Cirrus as the clear market leader in sovereign cloud services.
The ability to operate the country's sovereign cloud, made all the more significant by Lebanon's challenging geography, including proximity to a seismic fault line, means Cirrus has set a new standard for availability and resilience. “Our infrastructure availability is now at 99.99%, fully aligned with our Tier 4 status. That has directly strengthened our SLAs and given us an immediate competitive advantage with customers for whom downtime is simply not an option," said Chahine.
That trust is reflected in Cirrus's market position. "Today, more than 70% of the country's major banks and fintechs trust Cirrus as their cloud provider," said Chamoun. "That is a remarkable position to be in, and Nutanix is central to how we got here."
The calibre of that customer base is equally telling. “One of Lebanon's largest banks recently migrated to this new environment, and we now have three clusters running exclusively for this institution. Most impressively, after migration, they raised only one regret, which was not having made the switch sooner,” said Chahine.
Central to serving customers at this scale is the operational simplicity of NKP. “Compared to other platforms we've worked with, Nutanix Kubernetes Platform is around 90% easier to manage,” said Chahine. “We're running mission-critical workloads such as core banking systems, databases, and sensitive applications for some of Lebanon’s largest institutions and despite this, our IT team is never overwhelmed.”
That ease of management translates into direct customer value. “After switching to Nutanix, we can now bring new services and capabilities to market around 60% faster than before,” said Chahine. "As for customer onboarding, we've seen a more than 50% improvement in speed.”
For fintechs operating on razor-thin margins, the cost advantage is equally decisive. “Since deploying Nutanix, we've achieved a 30 to 40% reduction in total cost of ownership, and we've been able to pass that value directly to our customers," said Chamoun. "That is one of the key reasons major banking customers are switching from VMs to NKP, and why all of our fintech clients are already running on NKP.”
Taken together, these outcomes have delivered on Cirrus's founding ambition. “Nutanix has enabled Cirrus to become the trusted sovereign cloud provider in Lebanon,” said Chamoun. “The country's most critical financial institutions entrust us with their most sensitive workloads, and that trust is built on Nutanix.”
With its leadership position secured, Cirrus is now setting its sights on the next frontier - enterprise AI. The business is currently testing the Nutanix Enterprise AI solution with a view to offering customers the infrastructure to run Generative AI, large language models, and advanced AI workloads on a fully locally hosted site in keeping with its sovereign cloud mission.
“We already have customers in the queue for this capability and are confident that Nutanix is the right partner to support this critical functionality. As we've seen throughout our journey, whenever we need to take the next step, Nutanix is ready to take it with us,” said Chamoun.
