Nutanix Cloud Platform v6.8 awarded International Common Criteria EAL2+ Certification

Nutanix is excited to share that the Nutanix Cloud Platform was awarded an International Common Criteria Evaluation Assurance Level 2+ (EAL2+) certification. The Common Criteria for Information Technology Security Evaluation is the most widely recognized international security standard for the evaluation of Information Technology (IT) and IT-enabled products.  The Common Criteria requirements and guidelines are defined in International Standards Organization / International Electrotechnical Commission (ISO/IEC) 15408. Rigorous Common Criteria evaluations are conducted by independent accredited testing laboratories to ensure non-biased assessments of security features.  

Nutanix’s Common Criteria (CC) certificate was awarded by the Italian government, which participates in two international mutual recognition agreements; therefore this one certificate is recognized by many nations. Nutanix’s CC certification is recognized by all 36 CCRA participating countries as well as all 17 SOG-IS countries.  

The Nutanix’s Security Target document defines the security functionality that was assessed in the CC evaluation. The security auditing, role and privilege management, control of information flow, and ability to preserve data given hardware losses were all assessed. This certification indicates that security functions have been tested and performed as described by Nutanix’s documentation and public facing statements. Nutanix’s certification may assist consumers interested in procuring the evaluated Nutanix products to quickly perform an initial due diligence in reviewing Nutanix’s security functionality. 

This certification reflects Nutanix’s “Secure by Design” engineering approach. By integrating FIPS 140-2/3 aligned encryption and Zero Trust microsegmentation directly into the fabric of the Nutanix Cloud Platform, Nutanix provides features that customers can use to support their security and risk-management objectives.
