Expanding the Nutanix and Dell EMC Partnership
The Nutanix and Dell EMC® partnership has been an enormous success. We would like to thank our joint customers for choosing our combined infrastructure for their enterprise clouds.
We are actively looking to deliver even greater value to our joint customers through tighter integration between Nutanix and other technologies within the Dell EMC portfolio. Here is a glimpse into the areas that we are working on jointly on behalf of our customers:
- Performance optimized integration with the latest Microsoft® stack including Windows® Server 2016, Hyper-V® and Windows Containers.
- A new hyper-converged appliance, Dell EMC XC Xpress, intended for small and medium size organizations. The appliance running Nutanix Xpress™ software addresses the IT needs of smaller organizations.
- Ideal configuration and deployment guides for customers as they embrace Pivotal® Cloud Foundry®. Customers will be able to rapidly and easily develop and deploy applications to Pivotal Cloud Foundry by adopting a rapid iteration approach central to increasing developer productivity.
- Integration with market leading data protection products from Dell EMC (Avamar®, Data Domain®) to bring to bear best-of-breed enterprise cloud and best-of-breed backup with an on-ramp to public cloud.
Nutanix and Dell EMC plan to continue our support for essential Microsoft datacenter technologies by enabling Windows Server 2016 support across the entire Nutanix portfolio and the Dell EMC XC Series. New technologies in Windows Server 2016, such as discrete device attachment, should enable significant performance improvements within the Nutanix stack for Hyper-V customers.
Support for Windows 2016 Hyper-V Core and GUI, as well as fast growing datacenter technologies such as Windows Server containers, will help our customers build, test and deploy apps to any cloud including Microsoft Azure. In addition, Nutanix and Dell EMC plan to co-develop solutions to fully take advantage of the efficiencies offered by Nano server.
Dell EMC XC Xpress for SMB
For small and medium-sized businesses, purchasing, installing and managing IT infrastructure poses significant challenges. Existing solutions may be too complicated and require specialized skills that overstretch IT budgets. Xpress is a complete hyper-converged appliance that natively integrates server, storage and virtualization in a single, space-saving platform and radically simplifies the infrastructure stack. The new XC430 Xpress is affordable, and is easy to order, deploy, operate and manage.
Pivotal Cloud Foundry
The third area of focus is Pivotal Cloud Foundry and cloud native applications. Businesses should be focused on applications that add value to the organization not the underlying infrastructure. Pivotal Cloud Foundry is a cloud-native platform that can significantly accelerate critical business applications. What used to take months to develop and deploy applications now can be done in weeks or days.
To rapidly develop and deploy applications to Pivotal Cloud Foundry, XC Series and Pivotal engineering teams have collaborated to create the ideal configuration and deployment guide, which reduces risk and accelerates a customer’s ability to increase developer productivity and reduce IT operation costs. This allows customers to have an end-to-end cloud-native platform solution, reducing risk and accelerating time-to-value, with the flexibility of deploying both their Java-based as well as .NET-based apps.
The reference architecture and deployment guides for Pivotal Cloud Foundry on XC Series are available today.
The partnership between Nutanix and Dell EMC continues to offer customers choice, efficiency and simplicity to build, deploy and manage their applications throughout the lifecycle.
Data Protection Integrations
Nutanix customers can now integrate natively to Microsoft® Azure®. We want to take this one step further by integrating market leading Dell EMC data protection offerings together with XC Series powered by Nutanix. We plan to continue to make it easier for our customers to use the Azure public cloud as a seamless extension of their on-premise datacenter. The first phase of this work is available now as a reference architecture.
In addition, by leveraging Dell EMC Data Domain’s ability to natively tier deduplicated data to Microsoft Azure, customers will have the flexibility to efficiently store backup data on premise or in the Azure public cloud for long term data retention and compliance.
Please contact your local account teams to learn more about these offerings on the Dell EMC XC Series platform or join us at the Dell EMC Platinum Sponsor session at 4:10pm on June 29 during the Nutanix .NEXT user conference in Washington, D.C.
