Fastest Growing Enterprise Infrastructure Company of the Past Decade Rapidly Expands EMEA Customer Base, Partner Network and Employee Headcount
VMworld Europe, October 14, 2013 – Nutanix, a leading provider of hyper-efficient, massively scalable and elegantly simple datacenter infrastructure solutions, today announced at VMworld 2013 (Booth # G318) that its rapid growth continues to eclipse the market adoption velocity of all storage, networking and infrastructure startups since the early 2000s. In May, Nutanix announced it had achieved an annualized sales run rate exceeding $80 million globally and the management team reiterated its commitment to continuing the organization’s explosive trajectory by doubling in size in the next 12 months.
Since its inception in 2009, Nutanix has been disrupting the EMEA enterprise infrastructure market with a converged infrastructure solution that consolidates the compute (server) and storage tiers into a single, integrated appliance. Nutanix uses the same design principles and technologies that power IT innovators such as Google, Facebook, and Amazon to deliver a product for mainstream enterprises and the public sector. IDC estimates the worldwide converged infrastructure market will reach $17.8 billion by 2016, providing Nutanix tremendous growth potential in the years ahead.
“We’re seeing the emergence of a new generation of converged system vendors with architectures that better match the demands of the modern marketplace”, says John Abbott, Distinguished Analyst, 451 Research. “Nutanix has introduced substantial technical differentiation into its product line – translating into real efficiency savings for customers – and it remains the emerging player to beat”.
The extraordinary growth is being fuelled by a number of contributing factors. Nutanix has made significant progress growing its partner base by launching the Nutanix Partner Network in Europe, a program built to maximize partner productivity and profitability and to help promote and sell the Nutanix Virtual Computing Platform. As a result there has been a dramatic five-fold increase in the number of Nutanix partners from 30 in 2012, to over 140 across EMEA to date. There has also been a significant increase in the number of distributors actively trading in EMEA – last year at VMworld there were three and there are now 10 multinational distributor partners spanning EMEA.
A significant geographical expansion and headcount increase has also contributed to the unprecedented growth. Nutanix recently opened offices in France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, Russia and UAE, while at the same time doubling the size of its headquarters in the US. To keep up with the company’s growth, Nutanix has nearly tripled its global headcount in the past 12 months, acquiring highly experienced operators in key sales and marketing roles as well as top notch engineering talent from companies like Facebook and VMware.
The expanded Nutanix ecosystem has resulted in a growing number of customers deploying Nutanix for a wide range of projects, including private cloud, VDI and big data solutions that help accelerate business transformation and increase IT agility. Around Europe and across vertical industries, customers are realizing the benefits of rapid timetovalue (deployment in under 30 minutes) and modular building-block design that allow organization to start small and then scale out incrementally into large cluster installations with no degradation in performance. Recent examples of these innovative customers include managed services provider Synergics; ADD, a risk management company based out of Belgium and Claranet and one of Europe’s leading managed service providers.
‘’Nutanix allows us to offer cost-effective hybrid-cloud solutions to our customers in an agile way and without the hassle of managing multiple vendors’’, commented Jochen Maertens, CEO, Synergics. ‘’Simplicity and automation is key for our business and Nutanix is fundamental to helping us achieve this’’.
“The Nutanix Virtual Computing Platform has really transformed the way we think about managing the full range of ICT services, including live DRP 24/7”, commented Geert Celie, Head of IT at ADD. “Managing infrastructure and supporting the business with limited resources is something you can only achieve by consolidating in key areas. With Nutanix, we now have the flexibility to deploy infrastructure that we actually need today, while boosting compute and storage resources incrementally as the business grows.
”To best meet the demands of tomorrow’s applications, Claranet has evolved from the traditional data center architecture to one that is based on high performance, scale, and availability”, commented Sandrine Bajolet, Head of Product Marketing at Claranet. ”Thanks to Nutanix, our architecture is now unified, scalable and dramatically faster than what is possible with legacy infrastructure. We can seamlessly extend our range of cloud services and our customers can benefit from a very high level of guaranteed performance, regardless of the number of virtual machines hosted.”
“All of this momentum and growth is helping us execute on our top priority – helping our customers transform their businesses on their journey to the software-defined datacenter,” said Dirk Marichal, Vice President of EMEA at Nutanix. “The company is now perfectly positioned to develop our business further and capture the opportunity ahead. We are in great shape and I look forward to leading the EMEA team to new heights in a region regarded as a major growth engine for the company.”
