Nutanix helps Sentosa Development Corporation streamline infrastructure, improve security and datacentre disaster recovery protocols, and usher in innovation
Public Sector
Sentosa Development Corporation (SDC), established in September 1972, is a statutory board under Singapore’s Ministry of Trade and Industry which oversees the development, management, marketing, and promotion of Sentosa, a 500-hectare resort island that is home to an array of themed attractions including Singapore’s first integrated resort, Resorts World Sentosa. Nutanix has helped SDC to simplify its IT infrastructure, improve service availability and datacentre disaster recovery protocols. It has also paved the way for hybrid cloud environment enablement.
Sentosa Development Corporation required a platform that would allow it to run its applications as plug-ins to an overall ecosystem and mitigate maintenance scheduling challenges.
The installation of Nutanix’s HCI platform with Nutanix Flow helped to transform the disparate infrastructure into a homogenous platform with an infrastructure-as-a-service architecture. This architecture allows SDC to seamlessly run applications on the new ecosystem and use Flow to create a layer of security at the application level that meets the Singapore high standards of security. Nutanix’s Acropolis hypervisor, one of the first deployments in the Singapore government sector, has made real-time replication during datacentre failure/disaster recovery possible.
Accelerated deployment in hours and not months
Nutanix Move (previously Nutanix Extract) allowed SDC to seamlessly move its workloads to the Nutanix platform.
This has simplified operations, which in turn, improved service delivery. With less time being spent on maintenance, the IT division now has more time and resources to plan on improving service delivery and focus on innovation.
Confident in bring RPO/RTO to a minimum, ensuring businesses stay running at all times
The AHV hypervisor has already brought RTO down to about 1-2 hours from 4 hours previously. Going forward the plan is to bring RPO down to zero and RTO to a bare minimum. A scenario, in which real-time replication happens during datacentre failure/disaster recovery is now possible.
With the system running on an infrastructure-as-a-platform mode there is no negative impact during system downtime/patching. This helps to meet the SLE (single loss expectancy) requirements more effectively. As a result, critical business and applications can stay up and running.
Accurate capacity planning with Prism from a single pane of glass
With the homogenous Nutanix cloud platform running apps as plug-ins, SDC now has the ability to do capacity planning, just-in-time provisioning, and make better use of resources in their environment. It has also led to a future-proofing of its systems, able to scale out as needed.
