Introduction

NCM 2.0 and the upcoming 2.1 release collectively leapfrog traditional monitoring by introducing a comprehensive observability suite built on a high-performance, cloud-native data platform. This release moves beyond static monitoring & reporting with Custom Metrics and Custom Dashboards, allowing infra admins and platform engineers to ingest, define, and visualize high-fidelity telemetry tailored to their specific business needs. With over 50 new out-of-the-box metrics, a unified Inventory Browser, and Signals, NCM 2.0 & 2.1 will transform fragmented data into actionable, cross-domain insights at enterprise scale.

Multi-PC Intelligent Operations

NCM 2.0 transforms the NCM Intelligent Operations (AIOps) solution by introducing native Multi-PC support, effectively shattering the silos of distributed environments. Unlike previous architectures where AIOps was bound to a single Prism Central instance, this release empowers a centralized NCM instance to aggregate metrics, inventory, alerts, and capacity data across multiple PC domains. This unification delivers a true "single pane of glass" for global visibility, enabling administrators to apply consistent alert policies, analyze capacity trends, and execute automated playbooks across their entire hybrid multi-cloud estate from one cohesive management plane.

The multi-PC support for AIOps now unlocks true & consistent multi-site management across the full breadth of the build-operate-govern pillars, allowing a single NCM instance to centrally manage distributed hybrid cloud environments.

Tailored Observability: Define, Visualize, and Act

NCM 2.1 will introduce Custom Metrics, empowering teams to move beyond standard infrastructure platform metrics and define metrics tailored to their specific business needs and applications. By correlating these bespoke metrics with over 50 new out-of-the-box metrics, NCM provides a granular, full-stack, and actionable view of performance and capacity across the entire estate.

But comprehensive metrics availability is only as good as your ability to consume and visualize them effectively. That’s where Custom Dashboards in NCM 2.1 will come into picture.

An incident-responding IT admin and a capacity-planning executive need different views — Custom Dashboards, combined with Custom Metrics, lets you build exactly what each stakeholder needs. Supported widget types include line charts, bar charts, histograms, data tables, stats, pie charts, and geomaps. Widgets support drill-down, threshold-based color coding, and one-click report generation.

NCM 2.0 and 2.1 represent a fundamental architectural inflection point — moving from a PC-bound, single-domain monitoring model to an observability platform purpose-built for enterprise scale. Native Multi-PC aggregation, a high-performance metrics pipeline, and a fully customizable visualization layer are designed to collectively eliminate the instrumentation gaps that have historically forced enterprises to stitch together point solutions. For infrastructure and platform teams managing complex hybrid cloud estates, this is the consolidation play — fewer tools, higher signal fidelity, and a single authoritative management plane across every domain.
