Nutanix Embraces Its .heart

New Service Program’s Education Offering Included in White House Fact Sheet On New Commitments to Support Computer Science Education

SAN JOSE, Calif. – December 14, 2016Nutanix, (NASDAQ: NTNX), a leader in enterprise cloud computing, today announced .heart, a new service program designed to help its employees make a positive impact in their communities through giving and diversity initiatives. Since its internal launch just a few weeks ago, Nutanix employees have completed over 500 hours of community service through a new volunteer time off initiative and hosted several cross-industry, diversity best-practices roundtables to identify and share ways to help those with a passion for technology pursue their dreams.

Nutanix has a rich history of employee-led activities centered on volunteering and community outreach. Through .heart, Nutanix will now coordinate and formalize these efforts to make a bigger impact. With an initial focus on gender diversity, .heart will be centered around time-based volunteering activities, identifying opportunities to amplify diversity and inclusivity conversations and adding the Nutanix voice to support underrepresented groups in technology.

.heart will be expanded to include a new aspect that provides Nutanix technology to learning institutions to broaden opportunities for students to pursue a career in technology. Nutanix is piloting this education program with San Jose State University to support its graduate level computer science students.

The program has been included in the White House Fact Sheet on new commitments to support computer science education, which seeks to empower a generation of American students with the computer science skills they need to thrive in a digital economy. By offering these groups new learning opportunities and the resources to pursue them, Nutanix hopes to contribute to a more diverse workforce in the technology industry that brings new perspectives and ideas for innovation.

“As a company, we strive to embody the values of being hungry, humble and honest. Our employees add a little extra heart, devoting time and energy into supporting their communities while working very hard to meet the goals of the business,” said Michele Taylor-Smith, Senior Director, Corporate Social Responsibility at Nutanix. “By formalizing these activities into .heart, we hope to encourage them to continue living by our values while also having a bigger impact on the communities and world around us.”

As employees continue to embrace .heart, the program will expand in focus to include other diversity efforts and ways to make an impactful difference.
