Parallels Heads to .NEXT

| min

Parallels is a global leader in cross-platform solutions best known for its Parallels Desktop for Mac virtualization software. Its Parallels Remote Application Server (RAS) is a Nutanix Ready solution that leverages the Nutanix Enterprise Cloud to simplify and dramatically reduce the total cost of virtual desktop and application delivery to any device.

Parallels will demo and discuss Parallels RAS at the .NEXT Conference booth #E30 on June 20-22, 2016. We talked with Jack Zubarev, President of Parallels, and Robert Young, Research Director, IT Service Management and Client Virtualization Software, IDC — to get details about industry trends and what Parallels has in store for the .NEXT conference June 20-22 in Las Vegas.

What is the new Parallels RAS Nutanix Ready solution?

Jack: Parallels RAS is a Nutanix Ready verified solution for publishing virtual Windows desktops and applications to any device, anywhere. It works with major hypervisors and Microsoft Remote Desktop Services, providing mobile and end users with a seamless experience, while increasing security and reducing IT costs. Parallels RAS works with the Nutanix platform to empower IT departments at SMEs and SMBs to simplify VDI and get a better return on investment. Businesses struggling with the costs and complexity of VDI now have an easy to implement and simple to maintain solution to remotely deliver Windows applications and desktops.

How is VDI changing for SMEs and SMBs?

Robert: The benefits of VDI have historically been limited to enterprises that could afford the expense and deal with the legacy infrastructure complexity. Fortunately, today’s new hardware and alternative software solutions for delivering Windows apps and desktops to any device make VDI simpler and more affordable. Now both SMEs and SMBs can use VDI efficiently to support more devices, while realizing ongoing cost savings from streamlined IT support, extended hardware life, and increased productivity.

What does this mean for IT departments?

Jack: IT departments can install Parallels RAS and be up and running in about two hours and deploy virtual desktops and applications in a few days, compared to weeks and months of traditional solutions. Parallels RAS was built specifically with user experience in mind – for both IT administrators and employees. A set of automated Wizards makes it easy to manage, deploy, and maintain the infrastructure. It integrates and incorporates all features for remote desktop and application delivery— including reporting, high availability, two factor authentication, connection brokering, peripheral redirection, Windows Client Management, native clients for mobile devices as well as HTML5 client that can be accessed from any device.

What are you looking forward to most at .NEXT?

Jack: I look forward to learning more about Nutanix customers and its passionate user community. I am very impressed with Nutanix’s solutions and look forward to a deeper partnership with Nutanix
