Nutanix Publishes Reference Architecture that Supports 400 Citrix XenDesktop Users [...]

Nutanix Publishes Reference Architecture that Supports
400 Citrix XenDesktop Users in a Single 2U Appliance

San Jose, California. May 20, 2013.

Nutanix, a leading provider of hyper-efficient, massively scalable and elegantly simple datacenter infrastructure solutions, today announced that it has been verified as Citrix Ready®. The Citrix Ready program helps customers identify third-party solutions that are recommended to enhance virtualization, networking and cloud computing solutions from Citrix. As part of the program, Nutanix has completed a rigorous process to ensure its Virtual Computing Platform is compatible with Citrix XenDesktop®. The Nutanix Virtual Computing Platform is a great addition to this program as it offers Citrix XenDesktop customers a flexible, simple and affordable solution to achieve massive scale

Nutanix offers a next-generation converged infrastructure for virtual workloads that consolidates the compute (server) and storage tiers into a single, integrated platform. Using the same design principles and technologies that power IT innovators such as Google, Facebook and Amazon, Nutanix’s modular design helps to radically simplify traditional datacenter infrastructures.

Reference Architecture for Deploying Citrix XenDesktop

Nutanix has also published a Reference Architecture (available here) that details what is required to build a complete, enterprise-scale XenDesktop delivery infrastructure leveraging the Nutanix Virtual Computing Platform. Specifically, the Reference Architecture provides a comprehensive, technical blueprint with recommended design, performance and configuration information for organizations looking to deploy as few as a couple hundred virtual desktops, or for large enterprises that need to run more than 20,000 virtual desktops using Citrix XenDesktop.

The Reference Architecture provides detailed performance data for a variety of XenDesktop configurations, including those leveraging Machine Created Services (MCS) and Provisioning Services (PVS). Thorough testing, using industry-standard benchmarking tool Login VSI, demonstrated that a single Nutanix 2U appliance provides all of the server compute and storage resources necessary to deliver XenDesktop services to up to 400 task workers or up to 360 knowledge workers – completely eliminating the need for centralized SAN-based storage systems.

Quotes

“Nutanix’s outstanding ability to scale predictably and economically along with their extremely dense footprint made their solution the clear choice for our Citrix XenDesktop and XenApp deployment. The combination of Citrix XenDesktop and the Nutanix Virtual Computing Platform improves employee efficiency and output while driving higher employee satisfaction for business-critical services.” - Doug Conard, director of infrastructure at Think Finance

“We are pleased to offer enterprises a simple yet powerful solution that serves as the infrastructure foundation for the virtual datacenter. Further, we are extremely excited to join the Citrix Ready program and look forward to supporting XenDesktop customers with the best virtual computing solution for their Citrix environment.” - Greg Smith, senior director of product and technical marketing at Nutanix

Fastest Growing Enterprise Infrastructure Company of the Past Decade Expands International [...]

Fastest Growing Enterprise Infrastructure Company of the Past Decade
Expands International Footprint, Partner Network and Employee Headcount

San Jose, California. May 8, 2013.

Nutanix, the leading provider of hyper-efficient, massively scalable and elegantly simple datacenter infrastructure solutions, today released information regarding the company’s performance since shipping its first Virtual Computing Platform in late 2011. In just six quarters, Nutanix has grown at 80 percent quarter-over-quarter and achieved an annualized run rate of over $80 million, eclipsing the market adoption velocity of all storage, networking and infrastructure startups since the early 2000s.

Over the past year, Nutanix has also made significant strides in growing its customer and partner base, scaling customer deployments, adding significant headcount, expanding internationally and doubling the size of its headquarters. Global 2000 companies, medium to large sized enterprises and government agencies have overwhelmingly responded to Nutanix’s innovative solution for enterprise datacenters, which seamlessly and natively converges compute and storage into a single appliance.

According to Gartner[1], “IT organizations are moving toward data center convergence, forcing storage architects to re-evaluate SAN protocol selections, storage processes, and best practices.”

Recently named a “Cool Vendor in Server Technology”[2] by Gartner, Nutanix was recognized by the analyst firm for its clustered, appliance-based approach to compute and storage, which effectively eliminates the need for a storage area network.

To keep up with the company’s growth and customer demand for Nutanix’s breakthrough approach to datacenter architectures, Nutanix has added more than 100 employees in the past 12 months and has opened new offices in Belgium, Hong Kong, Japan, the Netherlands, Singapore, South Korea and the United Kingdom during the same time period, including parts depots across the world.

Leading European SuperVAD selects the Nutanix Virtual Computing Platform to complement existing technology suite and educate the market

London, UK, April 3, 2013 — Nutanix (www.nutanix.com), the first company to offer a scale-out compute-and-storage solution, today announced that it has reached a pan-European agreement with Exclusive Networks Group to distribute its all-in-one, converged compute and storage platform to six countries. Nutanix was chosen for its track record in bringing innovative solutions to market and for its ability to provide joint customers with a predictable and scalable infrastructure that can grow with the business, eliminating the need to over provision the datacenter.

Inspired by the datacenter architectures employed by the public cloud providers such as Google, Amazon, Facebook, and Twitter, Nutanix brings to market a new virtual computing platform that eliminates the need for costly and complex SANs. The solution integrates storage and compute into one unified appliance that can scale-out from one to hundreds of nodes. This provides organisations with a simple, elastic and smart datacenter infrastructure in a box to run and grow virtualized applications effortlessly.

As Nutanix looks to continue its explosive growth and sign up more partners for its converged compute and storage appliance, it has turned to Exclusive Networks Group to engage and educate resellers to address fundamental datacenter issues such as poor scalability, lack of IT agility, network bottlenecks and unsustainable capital and operational costs.

“Consolidation, automation and mobilization present massive opportunities for VARs in the datacenter and cloud infrastructure space,” said Barrie Desmond, Director of Marketing and Global Accounts at Exclusive Networks Group. “Space, power, speed and efficiency are the four pillars of the Nutanix approach – a proposition that datacenter owners and business line managers are crying out for – optimized by consolidating compute and storage horsepower into a single footprint.”

“Nutanix is thrilled to be partnering with Exclusive Networks Group as a value-added distributor across UK, France, Spain, Portugal, Belgium and Africa,” said Jan Ursi, Director EMEA, Channel Sales & Field Marketing at Nutanix. “In addition to its long-standing proven track record of delivering innovative solutions, Exclusive Networks Group provides extensive support to the channel. The partnership is a perfect match at a time when we are investing heavily in Europe and we look forward to working with the team to increase market share for our next generation solutions.”
